I have been an artist over 45 years. After switching from Painting to Printmaking major, I received a BFA from Philadelphia College of Art in 1967.
My prints, watercolors, acrylics and mixed media have been exhibited and sold in many art shows. However it wasn't until I took a pottery class that I found my element. The moment I had that ball of clay in my hands I knew this was "It".
Originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania my family moved to Superior, Colorado in 1996 and then to Bainbridge Island, Washington in 1999.
I love being out West! In the summer of 1951 my parents drove my sister and me across the country. Needless to say we drove our parents crazy. I personally badgered my father for 1700 miles until I saw mountains. When I did I was hooked!
I was dwarfed by and in awe of the magnificence of Grand Canyon, Mesa Verde, the Painted Desert, Yellowstone, Bryce Canyon, giant Sequoias, Rocky Mountains and other National Parks. I knew then where I wanted to live . Those images and experiences continue to influence my work.
You may recognize my art background in much of my work. My work is constantly evolving as I am willing to take risks in order to get pieces to "sing".
I use lead free glazes on porcelain and stoneware and currently fire to cone 6 in an electric kiln.
What I create in clay is limited only by my imagination.
